There are many adjectives to describe Switzerland, and ‘storybook’ is one it will never shake off. In winter its peaks are frosted with festive snow; in spring, marmots emerge from their burrows and buds start to blossom, and summer is the high season for hiking through impossibly pretty wildflower meadow.
On my latest visit in September, I was smitten with the wooden chalets bursting with scarlet and pink geraniums and my eyes couldn’t help been drawn to the retro 1970s italics that marked hotel names as I chugged through small villages on my fairytale ascent to Saas-Fee.
The hotel, the scenery and the hosting were out of this world, and I would recommend to everyone.
