It was my first visit to Peru and I was bombarded with requests from my friends to bring them home a llama; I chuckled along, goodheartedly, without realising quite how appropriate that was! Llamas aren’t just a stereotype here – they are everywhere!
I began my adventure in Barranco, Lima’s bohemian barrio, where bougainvillea spills over crumbling mansions and the Pacific hurls itself against the cliffs. Here, locals have created the “Muraliza el Barrio”, transforming the neighbourhood into an open air gallery, which I explored by bike after catching up on sleep.
