The high street store French Connection is always a fail safe pitstop for party wear and separates. I’ve never considered it a port of call when I want to look particulary edgy, there have been plenty of other options for a quick fix.
However in the last couple of seasons, the undercurrent of va-va-voom is making it’s way into the denim, florals and comfortable cord combos, and now the next gen boys and girls can take inspiration from the up and coming trend-setters, carefully chosen to represnt 2016.
The SS16 collection is turning back the clock and has taken inspiration from 90s grunge. If anyone is old enough to remember the cult movie Trainspotting, Kelly MacDonald’s character Diane was a bit of a fashion slave and wore a range of classic sequin dresses. Along with patterned trackie tops, bucket hats and Cool Britannia macs, the styling is designed to be mashed and clashed up, and is an Instagrammer’s dream!
Keeping it real, the talent fronting the campaign includes British singer/songwriter, #WillHeard who is currently touring with Rudimental, Argentinean born, NY based artist #ConieVallese, Parisian Model and actress, #AngieSherbourne, Polish model #CocoKate and British model and self-proclaimed ‘artist in training’ #WilsonOryema
A hurdle away from the pretty pretty that I remember, I can forsee a trip down memory lane in more ways than one.
