It’s no secret that I love Frida Kahlo – there is something about her story and her no frills art that struck a chord when I was a student and adored the Tehuna dresses and hair adornments and channelled these at any opportunity.
Later, when I first went to Mexico, I visited the famous Casa Azul, but this time I did a much deeper dive for The Independent – tracking down a much deeper understanding of her life and history – to coincide with the summer show that is coming to The Tate Modern this month.
